Long serving Rotarian honoured

President of Totnes Rotary Margaret Gambie recently had the pleasure of presenting a Paul Harris award to Totnes Rotary member Peter Bethel

The Paul Harris Fellowship was established in 1957. It is a prestigious award given in recognition of outstanding contributions to Rotary and the local community. It is also awarded to show appreciation of fellow Rotarians that have put in that little bit extra or gone that extra mile, for the club and the community.

Peter became a member of Totnes Rotary in 1988, some 31 years ago.

He became President in 1995/6 in the same year as his wife Sue became President of Totnes Inner Wheel. He has taken part in all activities of the club since joining and served on the Club Council many times. At present he organises our events list and also audits the Annual Accounts of the club.

In January 2017 he took on the massive task of starting his campaign for a night landing site for Devon Air Ambulance in Borough Park Totnes. This has taken over two years to achieve and as if this was not enough, he has now started planning or an additional night landing site in Bridgetown.
